TikTok Just Got Safer for Teens – And Parents Can Finally Breathe Easy
TIKTOK NENS
TikTok is fun, fast, and full of trends. But when it comes to teens spending hours on it, parents often get worried. And honestly, who can blame them?
Now, TikTok is rolling out new features that are meant to make the app safer and smarter, especially for younger users — and even more helpful for parents.
More Control Over What You See
One of the best updates? You can now choose what kind of content shows up more or less in your feed.
Sick of too many dancing videos? Want to see more DIY or motivational stuff? Just tweak the settings — and TikTok will adjust what it shows you.
Keyword Filters Just Got Smarter
TikTok already had a filter to block certain words, but now it’s even better.
You can block up to 200 keywords, and the app will automatically catch similar or slang versions too.
For example, block "violence," and TikTok will try to hide related content, even if it’s spelled differently or disguised. Pretty smart, right?
Parents, You’re Now in the Loop
With the updated Family Pairing feature, parents can connect their TikTok account with their teen’s and get more control:
- Set screen time
- Choose what kind of content is allowed
- See what type of videos the teen interacts with
It’s like giving parents a window — without kicking teens out of their space completely.
Time for Bed? TikTok Thinks So Too
Here’s a cool new feature:
After 10 PM, TikTok will offer a guided meditation session for teens before bed. The idea? Help them slow down, relax, and maybe even get better sleep.
This is optional for adults, but for users under 18, it’s highly encouraged — and in some cases, auto-enabled.
Real Support Beyond the App
TikTok isn’t just stopping at features. The company is investing over $2 million into mental health programs across the world. They’re teaming up with groups like ReachOut and PROJECT ROCKIT to support teens online and offline.
